Thriller by Filipino Prisoners / Inmates
Michael Jackson's "Thriller" Fun Video

Michael Jackson's Thriller by Filipino prisoners ... Boogieing behind bars?

It's incredible.

More than 1,500 Filipino inmates at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) perform a synchronized dance as part of their exercise routine in Cebu, Philippines, and was captured in video. This video has invaded the internet with over three million views since it was posted on Youtube.

While awaiting trials, CPDRC Director (and choreographer) Byron Garcia chose to lift the spirits of the prisoners through a group dance. Amused watchers even called out "Free these dudes!"

Already featured in CNN and ABCNEWS, even i-CAUGHT has traveled to the island of Cebu in the Philippines for a "Jailhouse Rock" report.

The production was huge, and not at all without risks. The city jail is undermanned and securing a vast number of inmates in an area can pose a big problem. According to a local jail officer of CPDRC, it was a disaster in waiting during the process.

Though a small group of dancers makes up the core of the routine, every prisoner did a part in the performance. The song-and-dance programs are considered not a distraction from rehabilitation, but which contributes to their eventual reintegration and probably spiritual upliftment.
