THE BAND:
Odis had their debut album (Feel) selected as the 2008 Big Album of the Year by Quick Magazine just two months after it was released. Odis debuted this same album at the House of Blues to a CD release show that sold out in advance, as hundreds of new fans came out to hear the buzz on this relatively new act.
Hailing from Dallas, Texas, Odis got their first break at a live show when they caught the ears of the Lex & Terry Radio Network. The DJ tandem asked Odis for a demo and that was all it took to start an Odis frenzy on their nationally syndicated radio show. The response from the listeners was overwhelming. So much that Terry Jaymes asked the band to play KDGE’s Edgefest and recalls, “It was very cool to see their audience grow from about 100 people to over 1,000 in just a couple of songs. They are going to be huge.”
What really sets Odis apart from their peers is the uncanny way in which they mesh styles of music and their blatant disregard for genre cliches.
THE FRONT MAN:
Laurence Gayao II is the son of Laurence and Edith Gayao, both of Filipino descent being from Illigan City.
