Glendale-Arizona continues its development with the opening of the $100-million modernization of Grand Avenue underpass and the construction of the $450-million world-class 1.7 million-sq.ft-Cardinals Stadium, now known as the University of Phoenix Stadium, home of the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals and the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl that opened in August 2006.

The barrel-cactus-shaped stadium will host Arizona Cardinals home games, Tostitos Bowl, BCS National Championship Game, ball games, concerts, shows, and soon will host the Super Bowl XLII. It can accommodate between 63,000-73,000 seats with 88 luxury suites, 7400 club seats, 77 restrooms, 25,000 on-site and adjacent parking slots, plus more.

According to BusinessWeek, the University of Phoenix Stadium is one of the world’s 10 most impressive sports facilities, the only one in North America.
