Gilbert-Arizona

Gilbert-Arizona, formerly the Hay Shipping Capital of the World, is only 8 miles southeast of Phoenix in Maricopa County.

Gilbert, Arizona

It is a booming business and fast growing community with an unparalleled 1990-2000 population growth among other towns and cities in the US.

As a town, Gilbert is still incorporated as a town and has the highest population in any area in the United States, and the second largest in North America (second to Markham, Ontario, Canada).

It welcomes 1,000 new residents every month. Gilbert’s community amenities offer parks, equestrian trails, fishing, boating, clubhouses, sports leagues, lakes, playgrounds, and local business services.

Events covered are Easter Eggstravaganza, Halloween Carnival, So Long To Summer Fest, Summer Concerts in the Park, and the Christmas Lighting. The Freestone Railroad gives children free train rides.

The 380-seat Hale Theater presents live performances for the family. Music and art enhancement is also a commitment through the Gilbert Fine Arts Association that provides a wide array of activities. Some of its best known productions are Camelot, Annie, Joseph and the Amazing Dreamcoat, Peter Pan, to name a few. Talented youth participate in the Theatrical Academy for Youth workshops.

Another famous 3-day celebration of festivities, parades, carnival and exhibitions is the Gilbert Days, recognizing the historical paving of the Gilbert Road, where Gilbert got its name.

The town is also known for its large Mormon population, associated with Mesa bordering it to the north.
