Gilbert-Arizona, formerly the Hay Shipping Capital of the World, is only 8 miles southeast of Phoenix in Maricopa County.

As a town, Gilbert is still incorporated as a town and has the highest population in any area in the United States, and the second largest in North America (second to Markham, Ontario, Canada).

It welcomes 1,000 new residents every month. Gilbert’s community amenities offer parks, equestrian trails, fishing, boating, clubhouses, sports leagues, lakes, playgrounds, and local business services.

Events covered are Easter Eggstravaganza, Halloween Carnival, So Long To Summer Fest, Summer Concerts in the Park, and the Christmas Lighting. The Freestone Railroad gives children free train rides.

Another famous 3-day celebration of festivities, parades, carnival and exhibitions is the Gilbert Days, recognizing the historical paving of the Gilbert Road, where Gilbert got its name.

The town is also known for its large Mormon population, associated with Mesa bordering it to the north.
