- Jackson’s Grill – serves one of the best meats and salads in northern Arizona, like the tender filet mignon with Shiitake mushrooms and sumptuous seafood and fish dishes.
- Macy’s – popular hang-out and coffeehouse also serving vegetarian food such as the filling Hummus Plate, Black Bean Burger or Tofurkey Sandwich!
- Mountain Oasis – charming restaurant offers them all, Japanese, SouthWestern, Middle East, American specialties.
- Alpine Pizza – just your ol’ favorite pizza parlor which can be served with beers in chilled mason jars.
Main Attractions: - Arizona Snowbowl – a must for skiers featuring 32 runs/trails for beginning, intermediate and advanced skiers with a thrilling 11,500 feet slope ride amidst the San Francisco Peaks. If you’re not the skier type, ride the ski lift for an adventure.
- Hiking – endless possibilities for hikers and horseback riding during the summer, including hiking Mount Humphreys where the greatest reward if reaching the state’s highest point, Humphrey’s Peak. Include Mount Elden and Kendrick Peak in one of the best mountain hiking trail systems in the world. Other hiking trails are the Kachina Trail, Lava Flow Trail, Lenox Crater Trail and State Mountain Trail.
- Lowell Observatory - best known for the discovery of Pluto and a great place to explore astronomy through daily-guided tours and evening programs.
- Museum of Northern Arizona - offers exhibits in archeology, geology, and fine art of the Colorado Plateau displaying the annual Zuni, Hopi, Navajo, and Hispanic exhibitions.
- Sunset Crater Volcano – Colorado Plateau’s most recent eruption and is the youngest, least-eroded cinder cone in the San Francisco Volcanic Field.
- Fishing – enjoy the lakes of White Horse, Ashurst and Mary.
- Nearby Attractions include the Grand Canyon, Sunset Crater, Oak Creek Canyon, Meteor Crater, Walnut Canyon, Wupatki National Monument, and the San Francisco Peaks.
Besides nature tripping, Flagstaff rocks the night with a vibrant downtown scene. Art lovers can fulfill their own desires with cultural attractions and art exhibitions, with Native Americans and rodeos seen during summer.
Flagstaff’s downtown is right where the train station is, and so are its cozy hotels. Some actually enjoy the sound of the train passing by, so depending on how much you appreciate the sound of a roaring train, determine how far you’ll be from the rail line.
