Fun Time Our Family Vacation

Just like spending a family vacation in the Philippines, we, Filipinos in Phoenix Arizona, have our magic moments here too.OUR VEGAS VACATIONThese slides are taken from our Las Vegas vacation. There's no place like the City That Never Sleeps! WHAT CAN YOU DO DURING THE HOT DAYS?.. A LOT!
At left is my 6'2" brother, Paul, who was dwarfed by the giant Saguaro cactus during a summer visit at the White Mountains.
One the upper right was the Luau birthday party we (my wife, Te, is far right) attended with friends and family.
Lower right shows my friend hitting it good with his golden voice. Yep, we also do sing-along here... and a lot, huh!
THANKSGIVING DAY
Spending Thanksgiving (Roast Turkey) Day with close family and friends... A true Filipino community in Arizona.
INUMAN NA! - PINOYS' ALL TIME FAVORITE!
How traditional can your family vacation be when away from home?
Kita nyo ba yung Tanduay Rhum? Kami po ang Barangay Phoenix! There's no doubt. Wherever Filipinos may gather, the guys would come and drink beer together. (Boy, how we surely miss San Miguel..) Filipino camaraderie will always stay. Define 'camaraderie'. It is the spirit (hic!) of friendly familiarity and goodwill between comrades. ;-) Mabuhay po tayong lahat!
RETIRE IN STYLE
This is our godparents' retirement home in Sun City. We're at the backyard where they grow oranges, lemons, calamansi, grapefruit and colorful roses. Sun City is a prime retirement community catering to the special needs of senior citizens - medical, entertainment, and social centers. And gosh, you should see all the gorgeous landscaping here!
Sorry po for not providing more pictures. Next time.. promise.
NEW YEAR 2005
At right is my brother-in-law and his wife (from New Jersey) who spent a special New Year family vacation with us. How did they like it in Arizona? They wanted to live here! We literally spent a day or two scouting for houses.
DOON PO SA AMIN...
Eto po ang picture of Filipinos in Phoenix. Sa Tagalog ay Barangay Phoenix! (ha!ha!) Kainan sa dahon ng saging. Wala lang. We just thought of doing our old Filipino tradition.
Alimango sa gata. Ihaw na baboy liempo. Nilagang talong at okra. Bagoong at sukang may bawang. At sinigang na isda sa miso. Saraaaap... And it turned out to be so much fun! And filling too... hay, sobra busog talaga.
OUR HAPPIEST MOMENT... Our civil wedding at Glendale, Arizona. It was my wife's birthday, too. Together, we created this special web site for you. Taken with our loving sponsors and my Mom beside me, who passed away and joined Dad last June 2005. | The year 2007 is almost over. In the Philippines, come September 1, the first Christmas song is played on the radio. Whether you're broke or not, you'll feel joy hearing the early Christmas spirit. So much has transpired. From personal experiences to professional milestones... I mean, literally, because it's my job to drive thousands of miles every week from state to state. :-) But seriously, the events that happened have enriched the core of our spirits.. learned our lessons.. gained more friends.. and has brought us closer to the Filipino community as a whole. And we'd like to share these captured moments with you. | CHRISTMAS '06... NEW YEAR '07 With our favorite priest, Father Reggie (can you tell?.. ), the last holiday season was a sumptuous feast of friends and food. Ummm.. I wasn't in the picture because of a job delay.. so.. these guys really waited to greet me at 1:00am (Santa kept an eye on them)! JUST CHILLIN' OUT.. 'Tis the September season where Arizona summer's starting to cool. Just chillin' out with friends we consider as family too. MORE CHOW TIME! Filipinos love to eat! Whether from home or wherever something is new, zoom-zooom-zooom kami dyan!
Top pic taken at a Japanese/Italian resto along Camelback near 16th St. We filled our tummies with Ramen, MapoTofu, Mixed Tempura and Sushi Combo. Ooh-la-la! Next was taken at a Vietnamese restaurant at Dysart and Central Avenues - King Egg Roll. Vietnamese soup is just king of them all. You should not miss their Spicy Beef Noodle Soup. And this is home sweet home with family - my wife, brother, nephew, sister and brother-in-law. If you want them altogether, get some food on the table! OUR LENDING COMPANY - PINOY AT YOUR SERVICE! Aaahh.. We love this job. As new Loan Officers of NLC of AZ Inc., we get more than a pat on the shoulder for a job well done. No, not the showgirls behind us.. silly . It's the smile that we see on our customers! We can serve your home purchase loans or refinancing needs... Pinoy-style.. a bonus of Filipino hospitality. :-) Big boss (non-Filipino) is at the center, Mr. Hao Nguyen, taken with my wife. Mr. Nguyen loves Filipinos. Damn good man... |
AS AMERICAN CITIZENS It is the ultimate goal of every Filipino in America - to become a US citizen. My brother, Paul, and I when we got our American citizenship certificates. Proud to be American citizens, I'm sure the rest of Filipino Americans in Arizona will still keep the true Filipino in their hearts. Come share your own stories and magic moments here, Kabayan. All Filipinos in Arizona will all be happy to catch a glimpse of your special memories here in the Valley. Return from Our Family Vacation to Arizona4Pinoys Home
