Eloy-Arizona
Eloy-Arizona is a city in the Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale metro area in Pinal County.
It is elevated 1,558 feet. Estimated population in 2003 was more than 10,000, and utilizes the Mountain Standard Time Zone.
History states that sometime in the early 1900s the railroad applied the name "Eloy" to a section house here.
There was no community then until W. L. Bernard, J.E. Myer, and John Alsdorf bought land to raise the heavily in-demand cotton.
After subdividing their land, the three proposed to develop "Cotton City" and applied for a post office to be named "Cotton City".
However, the postal department elected instead to use the name of the railroad section house, "Eloy", as that is where the mail would be dropped.
Eloy-Arizona is situated between Phoenix and Tucson.
A variety of community facilities include a library, an airport, three recreation centers, seven parks, two swimming pools, four tennis courts, two volleyball courts, and over 700 acres of industrial park space.
To top it all, Eloy is home to the largest skydiving resort in the world, Skydive Arizona, which has the state of the art equipment, a skydiving school, good weather and the best skydiving aircraft.
Further, experience the popular tandem jump as a prelude to the thrill of skydiving. The center is closely supervised by skydiving experts and instructors.
