Use like regular facial and bath soaps – up to twice daily. If your skin is sensitive, use no more than 3X a week at first, depending on your skin sensitivity then see if you can handle more frequent usage. To maximize results, you may leave it on like a facial/body mask for 1-10 minutes.

Dermaline Black Licorice Soap works best with exfoliated skin – either by using products that have exfoliating ingredients like our whitening lotion and cream that have kojic acid, or physically exfoliating e.g. shaving or using a loofah, pumice stone, face cloth, or exfoliating body mitt. You can use it as a “shaving foam” when you’re ready to rinse it out – just moisten the dried foam with water if necessary – shaving hastens the skin brightening through exfoliation but also contributes to skin sensitivity.

To achieve maximum results, use the whitening cream and/or body lotion, especially if you have problem areas or hard to lighten skin. Additional facial and body moisturizers are recommended.

General Information:

Dermaline Black Licorice Soap was originally intended for Philippine climate, which is hot and humid all year round, so it’s best to complement this with your favorite moisturizer - or use a sunscreen moisturizer with an SPF 30 or higher + UVA blocking sun protection and save yourself a step with your beauty routine. Avoid using moisturizers with strong exfoliating ingredients like retinol, alphahydroxy or salicylic acid – or any acids/exfoliants.

Always use sunscreen with UVA protection (UVA ray makes our skin tan and wrinkle, versus UVB that makes out skin burn) or else you’re just wasting your time using these products, that work by inhibiting the skin’s production of melanin.

If you don’t protect yourself from the sun, using these products is futile.

Even if you have sunscreen on, make it a habit to protect yourself physically from the sun through hats, sunglasses and long sleeved shirts because 50% of UVA rays occur in the shade.

Thicker parts of the skin like the elbows, knees and ankles may require heavier and more frequent lotion or cream application. Conversely, thinner or more sensitive parts of the skin like under the eyes, around the corner of the lips, underarms and the groin area may be too sensitive, so exercise caution when applying on these areas or avoid using on them too much.

Allow a few minutes to be absorbed, then moisturize (optional). Avoid using moisturizers with exfoliating ingredients like retinol, alphahydroxy or salicylic acid, or else skin might burn. For oily skin, use an oil-free, humectant (as opposed to occlusive) moisturizer.

After a few applications of Dermaline Black Licorice Soap, your skin might peel, itch or will seemingly get darker or ashier due to dead skin cells being resurfaced – these are normal side effects. Do not scratch or scrub your skin. Friction sometimes darkens skin.

For best results, you need to consume these products approximately every 2 weeks for at least 1 month or until you achieve the desired skin tone. You may decrease usage once you achieve the color you want.

If you have extremely or highly sensitive skin, these products are not for you. If prolonged irritation occurs, discontinue use.

TIP: According to several dermatologists, taking Vitamin C (Ascorbic acid) per day (500-1000mg) could inhibit production of melanin, reinforce the skin lightening process, and improve the skin's overall condition. Ask your doctor if it’s safe for you to take these supplements especially if you’re under medication.
