Benson-Arizona
Benson-Arizona is a city in Cochise County, 45 miles east-southeast of Tucson.
Named after Judge William B. Benson, the city was founded in 1880 when the Southern Pacific Railroad came through. Elevated 3,585-ft high and 35.7 mile in area, Benson-Arizona has the perfect climate of 96 degrees at summer high and 62 degrees during winter. Located in San Pedro Valley, it is home of Kartchner Caverns State Park. Benson is ideally located along the Interstate-10 and serves as the western gateway to the scenic and historic attractions of Cochise County. Proud of their identification as the Home of Kartchner Caverns State Park, Benson offers hiking, picnicking, camping, and walking along the still existing caverns.
The park opened the Big Room to the public making the park that much more exciting. These caverns are living, growing, wet caves, and the moisture levels are closely monitored to make sure that they are not destroyed. There are camping facilities, hiking trails, bird sanctuary, visitor’s center, interpretive displays and a gift shop. Also in its tourism package include the Amerind Foundation museum, the Cochise Stronghold forest, Gammon’s Gulch Movie Studio, Arena Bar & Rodeo Arena, San Pedro Golf Course, Vega-bray Observatory, and others. Benson offers proximity to both Tucson (45 miles northwest) and Sierra Vista (30 miles south). Return from Benson-Arizona to State of ArizonaReturn to Arizona4Pinoys Home
