Bagdad-Arizona
Bagdad-Arizona is a copper mining town in western Arizona. It is one of only two remaining company towns in Arizona. The town is located in Yavapai County, Arizona, United States.
 100 miles from Phoenix, Bagdad-Arizona has an elevation of 3316 feet and a land area of 7.9 square miles. Its history is mainly associated with the copper ore, and is positioned at the hills of the Aquarius Mountains within Yavapai County. Phelps Dodge Corporation operates the copper mine, after merging with Cyprus Copper Corporation. Phelps Dodge owns all of the housing and commercial buildings in Bagdad. Bagdad is strategic to the County’s tranquil mountains, lakes and plains. Prehistoric Indian ruins at Tuzigoot and the futuristic power-efficient town of Arcosanti will give you an experience of the past and future at the same time. Hiking, backpacking, and camping are provided by the Burro Creek. And from its copper origin still rests a beauteous copper mine surrounded by mountain vista. Other landscapes to wow you are the Santa Maria River, the Blue Mountain, Prescott National Forest, some desert canyon, and the ruins of modern-day ghost towns and treasure hunts.
